After all these years traveling, I definitely consider myself a pro at packing—especially when it comes to beauty products in my carry on bag. The key is to look for double-duty products and—until the FAA does away with that pesky rule limiting the size of liquids in our carry on—keep liquids to a minimum. When I’m headed to the beach, I use a straw bag as my carry on, like the one above from Tory Burch. It doubles as a beach bag.
A few of my must-have products include:
Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes A wipe to clean and refresh skin is a no-brainer when you travel, because there’s no risk it will explode in your bag, as liquid or gel cleansers can do. The ones from Simple are gentle enough that you can even use them to remove your eye makeup and they won’t dry out sensitive skin that may result from traveling.
Dry Shampoo. If I’m going away for a weekend trip, I’ll get a blowout the day before I leave. That way I don’t have to wash my hair while I’m gone. This means I don’t have to pack hair styling products—a huge space saver. My preferred dry shampoo technique is to spray it in the evening so it has time to absorb fully while I sleep.
Simple Vital Vitamin Day Cream with SPF 15 A moisturizer with SPF means one less product to carry. At 1.7 ounces, this one can safely slip into your carry on. When I’m on the road, I’ll use this at night, too and even dab a little on my hands while en route to moisturize and protect skin all day. With no dyes and no fragrance it’s ultra soothing for any skin type, especially sensitive skin.
Lip Balm. I am a full on lip balm addict. I’m never further than arm’s reach from a balm. On the plane, I’ll often wear a favorite cashmere hoodie and keep the balm in my pocket so I can reapply often.
Simple Revitalizing Eye Roll-On I love this eye moisturizer so much because it has cucumber extract and a cooling roller ball applicator that is gentle on the sensitive skin under the eyes. It reduces the appearance of puffiness and wakes up tired eyes. It’s perfect for a quick pick me up on the plane and for the morning after a big night out with your girlfriends.
