Banana Republic’s “Mad Men” Collection Take 3

Banana REpublic Mad Men

The latest Banana Republic Mad Men collection is in stores now and fans of mod 60s styles will be happy to see it takes a lot of influences from the show’s fashion-centric Megan. You’ll find lots of bold graphic prints, bright colors, shirt dresses and skinny cropped pants.

“In my work with Simon for the Banana Republic ‘Mad Men’ Spring 2013 collection, the spirit and fashion-forward thinking we see on-screen in Megan was really inspirational for the capsule,” said Janie Bryant, Mad Men‘s costume director. “I am excited about what we’ve done together, and I know that Banana Republic customers and ‘Mad Men’ fans are going to be thrilled with our new collection this spring.” We love these two shirt dresses, Mad Men Peggy Knit Shift Dress (above) and  Mad Men Mod Shirt Dress (below).

Joan and Peggy fans, you’ll find pieces inspired by our favorite working women, too, including Joan’s form-fitting styles and Peggy’s matching accessories, like the Geo Silk Scarf (below). Not represented is Betty—perhaps that’s a clue about the direction of the show this season?

“With a new era of fashion inspiration, the design process was exciting for us and allowed for lots of creativity, which is completely visible in the end result,” said Simon Kneen, Banana Republic Creative Director and Executive Vice President. “We took [costume designer] Janie Bryant’s mod inspiration for the costumes on-screen and translated it in a way that today’s Don or Megan will aspire to wear.” We could totally see Megan rocking out the vertical stripe dress (below).
