Operation Lose the Baby Weight: Getting Serious

losing baby weight

It has now been seven months since I had my son and the excuse that I “just” had a baby is starting to sound a little old (to me, at least). That’s me above in August, 2-months post baby and earlier this week—I’ve made some progress! I have two main reasons I want to get in shape and back to my pre-baby weight:
1. My 7-month old is already SO active. He’s constantly moving—bouncing in his bouncy seat, jumping in his exersaucer and rolling around on (and off) his play mat. It’s only a matter of time before he starts crawling and has me on my toes 24/7. I want to be able to keep up with him and play with him.

2. I have an amazing closet full of clothes and I still only fit into less than half of them. I can only fit comfortably into two pairs of my jeans, when I usually have a rotation of about 10. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I’m not buying larger size jeans.

My Weight Loss Strategy
Because I’m still nursing, I’m not ready to start restricting my caloric intake. Instead, I’m trying to make smarter food choices, which also means cutting back on sweets, desserts and booze. For the month of January, I’m borrowing my friend’s idea and am on the Jan Plan, which means no drinking for the entire month (except for my annual girl’s night that happened the weekend before last).

In addition, I am working out more. I finally made it back to the gym for the first time since last April! I was super sore after the first workout, but it felt so, so good!

My goal for the month is to get back in to two more pairs of jeans. I have two pairs that I can manage to zip up, but are super tight. They are my Tory Burch boyfriend jeans (that’s me and my muffin top in them below) and my one pair of Paige jeans in a size 29 (the other jeans in my closet are a 27 or 28).

Check back in next Wednesday when I’ll share more about my workout!
