About The Jet Set Girls
The Jet Set Girls’ founders, Hope Schmid and Annie Fritz have been best friends since the third grade (they’re not about to tell how long ago that was!). Though we make our homes in different cities, we talk nearly everyday—usually to plan our next girls’ getaway.
We founded this blog because we love to get away with our girlfriends. Not only to go somewhere warm and get away from the responsibilities of work, home and kids, but so we can reconnect with our best friends. We hope our website allows you and your group of girlfriends to do that, too.
We have a passion for travel. Annie served as Travel Editor at Woman’s Day magazine for 5+ years. Between the two of us, we average a trip a month, typically somewhere around the U.S. or in the Caribbean.
About Our Website
We launched The Jet Set Girls in October 2007 to build on our enthusiasm for travel with our girlfriends. In the two-plus years since we started the site, we have grown a large and loyal audience. Our audience grew an impressive 250% in our second year. We are part of the elite Daily Makeover Beauty Blogeratti, Style Coalition and Web Snob.
While our main focus is girls’ getaways, we also cover fashion and beauty on a near daily basis. We have attended and covered New York’s Fashion Week for a decade reporting on trends from the backstage and front. We received a special shout out on the list of Top 50 Beauty Blogs (because we do not cover beauty exclusively, we were not eligible for the list).
Co-Founder Hope Schmid
Hope Schmid (left) lives in Metro D.C. with her husband, three kids and two dogs. Balancing time between work and family is a rewarding challenge as is making time for her fabulous girlfriends. A monthly getaway is common, often to the beach; but a pool will do in a pinch. Hope’s other passions include music, great food, an extra spicy Bloody Mary and finding the best anti-frizz product. The Jet Set Girls has introduced her to amazing people, exciting resorts, and more lipgloss than any woman needs.
Co-Founder Annie Fritz
Annie Fritz (right) had been to every continent except Antarctica by the time she turned 30, but her favorite trips are anywhere she goes with her girlfriends. She freelance writes and copywrites for websites, magazines and well-known brands, including Sephora, Sister to Sister, LIfe & Beauty Weekly and EverydayHealth.com. Prior to becoming a full time freelancer, Annie was Style Director at Life & Style weekly and Fashion & Beauty Editor at Woman’s Day. She has frequently appeared on television as a style expert and is available for television appearances. To view her video clips, click here.
When Annie’s not traveling or working, she’s decorating her new(ish) apartment, practicing yoga, window shopping online, making friends with other bloggers obsessing over her hair. She is a newlywed and lives in Manhattan.
Designer Lauren Terry
Our adorable, amazing JSG logo was designed by the talented Lauren Terry. “The challenge of creating designs that inform and evoke some type of emotional response is what has always drawn me to graphic design and photography,” Lauren says. Lauren’s impressive list of clients ranges from VFW, Easter Seals Society, National Park Trust, CARE, National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, The City of Falls Church, Strayer University, The Liberty Tavern (Arlington), MCI Worldcom, and Nextel. Equally important, Lauren is a dream travel companion and has an open invitation for all JSG trips! We loved traveling to Grand Cayman with her! That’s mostly Lauren’s photography in the video slideshow.
