Within five minutes of meeting Yeardley Smith, I realized she was my hero. Not only is Yeardley the voice of Lisa Simpson on The Simpsons, she’s also the founder of Marchez Vous shoes, a playwright, a children’s book author and supports micro-financing for women. But what really won us over is her man-tourage, pictured above. The guys are all friends of Yeardley and travel with her to Marchez Vous events around the country. (If you ever have the chance to go to one, go!)
Here’s what’s in Yeardley’s carry on bag.
What does your carry on bag look like?
I will never get a medal for packing light! However, once I check my big suitcase, I’m happy as can be with just my purse and my blue and white, Marchez Vous canvas bag. It was a promotional item at one of our first shoe trade shows.
What shoes do you usually travel in?
I never leave the house without Marchez Vous shoes on my feet! (Boots, pumps or wedges.) Not only are they truly my favorites, but it’s a matter of principal for me. As the designer, it’s my job to constantly test our product to see how close we are to achieving the dream: gorgeous shoes that keep up with the busy women who wear them. No to mention, there’s so much standing around at airport security that people tend to look at your feet, and I always get lots of compliments.
What beauty products do you always have with you on the plane (lip balm, moisturizer, etc.)?
“Sugar Rosé” lip balm from Fresh. Hand lotion, toothbrush and toothpaste, concealer, a small hair brush, and a wee pot of Axe “Whatever” paste to give my hair a little life after a long trip!
Any favorite or recent books or magazines you’ve read on the plane?
I’m on Book 3 of the Hunger Games (Mockingjay). I’m a slow reader so I’ll probably be finished with it right about the time the third Hunger Games movie comes out.
What type of music do you listen to when flying?
I actually like all kinds of music. But my favorite for some time now has been country, I adore the Zac Brown Band. His music reminds me of great times with my best friends. But I also have a soft spot in my heart for Pitbull, Lady Gaga, and Gaelic Storm.
What type of sweater or wrap do you wear?
I have a beautiful red cashmere wrap from Hermés that I bought myself as a Christmas present several years ago. I go everywhere with it.
